An animal rights charity named 'NoToDogMeat' has shared some horrifying images of caged puppies destined for dog soup in South Korea's annual dog-eating festival called Boknal. According to a blog post by 'Notodogmeat', there are still enough Koreans who still follow the tradition of eating boshintang - or dog soup - made using dogs from farms, strays or people’s pets who are brutally tortured.

Of the three million dogs slaughtered each year in Korea, the majority are consumed during Boknal.

The ten-day Lychee and Dog Meat Festival started in Yulin, in southern China, on June 21. The annual festival, timed to the summer solstice , has been held for the past decade.
